Press Release 8/22/2007
Newport Beach, CA - August 22, 2007 - Todd Olivas & Associates, a California court reporting service launched free software to calculate dates and filing deadlines for use by law firm employees.
Today's law firm employees are hard pressed by litigation deadlines and calendaring crunches. Many legal secretaries work on dozens of cases for their attorneys at any given time. According to court reporting service Todd Olivas & Associates, missed deadlines for filing transcripts could not only lose a case but might constitute malpractice.
"We wanted to provide a tool that would aid law firms in calculating date distances," says CEO Todd Olivas. "The software was written to ease the burden on already-over worked paralegals and legal secretaries. In litigation, timelines are extremely important. For example, when a lawyer or legal secretary needs to schedule litigation events 45 days from a given start date, they have to make sure that the calculation is correct and accurate. That's where my court reporting firm's new software comes in to help."

With merely a couple fields of data entry, future or past date distances are calculated instantaneously. There's no software to install and the calculator is usable by logging in to the company's court reporting services website at http://www.toddolivas.com/court_reporting_articles/deadline-calculator.asp.
In addition to doing the date calculation, the software takes into consideration holidays and weekends and gives the user an appropriate message. "And best of all, it's free," says Olivas.
"We are excited to provide quality court reporting services to law firms throughout the United States and especially pleased to add a valuable new tool like this calculator to our offering," says Olivas. Todd Olivas & Associates is a court reporting agency serving six states with court reporting services.
